Everyone who becomes passionate, must first become curious. A Network of Passions For All Mankind.

Brief: The Tundra is a highly reactive network encompassing over 80 unique and specific interests. The network is vast, diverse, and interconnected. I was tasked with increasing operational simplicity and usability, driving traffic to KPIs, and creating a unified design system and user flow that could be scaled across the entire ecosystem.

Goals: I sought to streamline and activate the entire web experience in order to make it more purposeful. Additionally, one of my primary goals was to connect the disparate elements or ‘networks’ through highly considered UX and polished and consistent visual branding and hierarchy, Furthermore in order to increase traffic from highly visited pages into the deeper parts of the site and its various ‘networks’, I first reduced previous visual fatigue and then directed the user experience by championing the interconnected nature of the site as a whole as well as its diverse and connected audience. Related networks were intermingled with a user’s typical diet, and various elements (usually the more dynamic streaming ones) were seamlessly overlapped in order to spread the user’s appetites further afield and create a more engaging and curious experience.

Orange

Engaged, Informed, Proactive. Autonomous Marketing Campaigns for Independent Artists.

Brief: Created by Kristin Westcott Grant, Orange is a signal driven advertising platform that “aims to raise the average amount of revenue per artist, per track, across your entire catalog of assets”. Musicans and label managers are able to view key global metrics and instantly perform dynamic actions via the platform. Actions that connect fans with artists, and keep everyone connected in common interest and profit.

Goals: Become the platform of choice for independent artists to take ownership of their marketing goals through the development of essential product features and impactful branding. Provide a central HQ for taking full advantage of Orange’s proprietary AI in order to make and automate the most consequential and impactful marketing decisions. Create dynamic actions for artists to directly engage with their fan base and a build a stronger and more influential following.

Chirpee

A Reactive Sonic Experience for Children Who Are Afraid of the Dark.

Brief: Night time sleep aids for children are too dependent on lights and fallacy that often just kick the problem down the road to be internalized and released at a later date. Chirpee can help soothe your child to sleep through subtle changes in their sonic environment. Influenced by both the Sloyd method of teaching and the Japanese concept of ‘dusking’, Chirpee combines the beauty of handmade wooden toys with the power of an embedded reactive micro-controller. Utlizing an Arduino Nano, LAN enabled Bluetooth, and a Piezo speaker, the fully integrated app can customize volume levels and adjust the sleep timer to which ever speed and duration your child requires. The home screen logs ‘Sleep Streaks’ and serves as a friendly reminder to your child that Chirpee is always ready and available.

Goals: Empower children to embrace the dark as a source of calm, reflection and imagination. Soften the transition between day and night and in turn create a more stable, sensitive and elongated experience that has benefits in both day and night.

Sol

How can we connect to the largest part of ourselves? An Interactive Sonic Experience Powered by the Sun.

Brief: Sol. Spirituality for the digital age. A move towards a more cosmic future. A hopeful call to arms for a more inclusive, liberated future where the impermanence of life can wash over us in a wave of ambient sonic splendor. Using solar energy to create a shifting ambient soundscape Sol is an immersive, interactive civic space for all lifeforms.. A reinterpretation of the Shinto shrine for the digital age. An alliance between codified physical computing, emerging interactive technology and the ancient spiritual traditions of the East. Non-denominational, non-religious -wholly universal. Where all beings can remember their cosmic core, their common primordial source, where everything is united through the vibrational properties of sound and light. This is the common link. Vibrational force. Sun to light, light to sound - and back again. The great circle of vibrational energy. A place where your presence creates the experience. A reminder that we create our own reality. Awareness of this is the great liberator. Sol the tool.

Death of the Pando

A Multi-Sensory Virtual Reality Experience.

Brief: Death of the Pando explores the life and death of the Pando, one of the oldest and largest organisms on Earth The project ties the user to the experience through a unique and engaging multi sensory environment. Users are asked to remove their shoes and socks and insert their feet into the prepared soil. Through grips made available in the constructed arboreal frame the users’ arms are connected to the virtual environment. Their own appendages become that of the virtual tree. Through this added embodiment a user can gain a greater connection to the vulnerability of the Pando, whose physical situation remains fixed, and to the emotional and physical experience of deforestation, thereby helping to manifest a greater realization of this incredibly important issue.

Goals: Question mental models that separate one species from another. Create shifts in attitudes and behavior that will help to protect ancient forests for future generations. Evangelize augmented reality and the possibilities it affords to create ground breaking immersive experiences full of impact, empathy and delight.

From the Garage to the Gallery. A Branded Experience for Arduino®.

Brief: Hover is a multi programmed space for the Arduino community. Hover influenced by the power of layering, the transparency of open sourced technology and the highly globalized and connected Arduino community.At the heart of this project is the governing ethos running through the world of Arduino. A world built off of the transforming power of interconnected, open sourced creativity. Hover serves to showcase this ingenuity in a new light, and bring their creations out from the garage and into the gallery.

Goals: Combine education, retail and work into a unified space that highlights the very best principles of the highly connected and imaginative Arduino community. Pay homage to the ingenuity and collaboration that is the heart of an Arduino creation. Present the bold and inclusive future that a STEM education can offer.

Spoke

BUY, RIDE and REPAIR.

Brief: Cyling in the city is a nerve-racking experience. Customers need a calm, clean and collected way to get back in the saddle and train for their next ride. Spoke is this. An all in one cycling app for city riders on the go.

Goal: Empower local bicycle shops and the services they offer. Provide a platform for enthusiasts to train and ride together. Soften the blow of bicycle repair and purchase.

Nightingale

A Branded Experience for Alison Berger Glassworks.

Brief: Nightingale takes the dichotomous nature of glass blowing as a guiding principle in crafting a meaningful user journey that is both emotional and educational. By fusing both the ancient and the modern, the elemental and the technical, and the mystery of night with the rebirth of day, Nightingale is able to highlight the ancient alchemical craft of glassblowing as well as the inherent dichotomy that lies within. By doing so we are also able to showcase the dichotomous nature of Ms. Berger’s products which are both mysterious, moody and modern as well as light, ethereal and timeless. A retail experience in two acts primed by the experience of rebirth (the entry foyer).

Goal: Combine process and product into a unified experience that highlights all the mystery, craft and technique of Ms Berger’s work. Provide a forum for both purchase and learning in order to increase associated value with the product. Create an impactful and inspiring neighborhood presence that continues to mystery even after the day is done.
